아황산가스 (SO2) 대량 누출사고 500명 흡입 (2019.06.19)

2019.06.19 아침 
미 유타주 솔트레이크 시티에 위치한 Thatcher Company에서 아황산가스(SO2, sulfur dioxide)를 누출하여 56명이 흡입을 하는 사고가 발생하였다. 이 회사는 지난 30년 동안 대형 사고가 많았습니다. 물론 최근에는 사고빈도가 많이 줄었다고 합니다.

1998년 탱크로리에서 페리릭 염화물 유출 사고
1999년 9월 염소가스 대량 누출 12명 흡입 치료
1999년 10월 이상 반응에 의한 누출사고 증기운 형성

2003년 염산 유출로 인근 6개 사업장에서 150여 명 대피 
2004년 대형 폭발사고
2011년 OSHA 감독 후 중대 결함으로 벌금 부과

우리나라 같으면 국회, 언론, 환경단체에 의해 초토화가 되었을 것입니다.

Sulfur dioxide (SO2) leaked from the Thatcher Company in Salt Lake City, Utah, causing 56 people to inhale. The company has had a lot of major accidents in the last 30 years. Of course, the number of accidents has decreased a lot lately.
